Graduates Give Back
"I feel that it's right to give back to the place that directed me on the right path," said Rabiet Dasher '11 (above center), recipient of the Endeavor Scholarship at UMass Dartmouth. She is a graduate of Voc-Tech, a member of the National Honor Society, and completed her first year of college successfully.
Expressing gratitude like this seems to create its own positive energy. For example, after a full day of classes at Bishop Stang, sophomore Maya Tavares '14 (above left) enthusiastically coaches the OSS chorus with Jarynette Gonzalez '11 (above right). Jary graduated from Lincoln School in 2015 and currently serves OSS as an intern. "I'm glad I can give back to the place that started it all. I wouldn't be going to Berklee College of Music if not for OSS."
Academic coaching from Rabiet motivates 6th graders Alejandra Mendez, left and Isadora Sylvia-Ribeiro, center.
Math teacher Victoria Wood, left, an Endeavor Scholar from UMass Dartmouth, also began as a volunteer at OSS.
