Making Waves In Education
at Our Sisters' School

 April 1, 2017

Remarkable Achievements

It takes a lot of courage, hard work, determination, and a strong sense of identity and purpose to apply for a full scholarship to an independent school. Each of our 8th graders have the opportunity to take this kind of chance, and now we celebrate their accomplishments. The four girls and their families, pictured above, were awarded full scholarships to attend Loomis Chaffee, Phillips Academy Andover, Westover School, and St. George's School.

Our secondary school exploration process begins in 7th grade when students learn about careers and begin to determine school choices. Inspired to aim high, this year's 8th graders completed a combined 81 applications to 16 schools. All students who applied were accepted at Bishop Stang, Bristol County Agricultural School, Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical School, and City on a Hill Charter School. Other students were accepted and waitlisted at Dana Hall, Deerfield Academy, St. Andrew's School, Tabor Academy, and Noble and Greenough School. Each student was accepted to several schools.

Whether she makes the decision to attend a vocational, parochial, independent or public school, we encourage every student to strive and achieve her dreams beyond our familiar shores.

Go boldly forward, girls!

Our mission, as an independent, tuition-free, nonsectarian middle school, is to educate and inspire economically disadvantaged girls from the New Bedford area. Our Sisters' School empowers girls to step into the future with valuable life skills and a mindset of achievement and excellence by providing a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment.
