Making Waves In Education
at Our Sisters' School

 March 2, 2017

Chemistry...It's Everywhere!

Investigating the periodic table of elements is an opportunity to research and appreciate its history, uses and chemical properties. Students study each element and piece them together to build a periodic table. Next, they embark on a hands-on investigation of the transfer of thermal energy using chemicals and an infrared thermometer. This leads to an understanding of exothermic and endothermic chemical reactions. By tying these complex concepts to real world applications, our students understand that chemistry is something they experience every day.

Through this process, friendships deepen, mutual respect grows, and self-esteem blossoms. And, if you really think about it, isn't success all about chemistry?

Our mission, as an independent, tuition-free, nonsectarian middle school, is to educate and inspire economically disadvantaged girls from the New Bedford area. Our Sisters' School empowers girls to step into the future with valuable life skills and a mindset of achievement and excellence by providing a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment.
