Learning Together
Mentoring is one of the leadership roles that all of our students enjoy and take seriously. Younger and older students are paired by grade, and opportunities to lead occur in club activities, during recess games, at all school celebrations, and in the "gray areas."
Students learn that leadership works both ways. Relationships built doing real and meaningful work become lasting bonds. Solving problems together creates unity and discourages stereotyping. Simply having a "big or little sister" join you for lunch builds confidence and boosts self-esteem.
"Being a big sister has many benefits. So does being a little," said Isabelle, an 8th grade student. "Even though I am the big sister, I still learn tons of things from my littles. This is because having a little sister is like having a kind of support system. You are always there to help, and they are always there to help."

Our mission, as an independent, tuition-free, nonsectarian middle school, is to educate and inspire economically disadvantaged girls from the New Bedford area. Our Sisters' School empowers girls to step into the future with valuable life skills and a mindset of achievement and excellence by providing a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment.
