Summer Learning at OSS
Our summer programs allow girls to design
outdoor classrooms, take on communication challenges (above), make soap sculptures, explore nature and so much more. Eight different OSS summer programs offer chances for girls to engage in creative expression and teamwork with over forty students participating. Budding scientists explore, writers design their own books, and all learn new concepts, build friendships and make lasting memories.

especially for kids curious about calligraphy!
Several OSS girls are also attending boarding summer programs at places like Windsor Mountain, Westover School, Nokomis, and Summer Stars Performing Arts Camp at NMH. Scholarships to programs at Brown University, Tabor Academy, Community Boating Center, and the Lloyd Center for the Environment keep others involved locally.
Studies show that kids who engage in active learning during the summer months retain more of what they learned during the school year and return to school better prepared to begin new material. In September, OSS girls will hit the ground running!
Our mission, as an independent, tuition-free, nonsectarian middle school, is to educate and inspire economically disadvantaged girls from the New Bedford area. Our Sisters' School empowers girls to step into the future with valuable life skills and a mindset of achievement and excellence by providing a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment.
