Appreciating Service
Volunteer service is part of the fabric of school life at OSS. Volunteers contribute high quality service as grant writers, academic mentors, club leaders, and more. This year, over 119 volunteers actively served a combined 4,369 hours of service, and this number continues to grow.
"The more I volunteer at OSS, the more I realize how great it feels to give to this community and how important it is to develop the spirit of volunteerism in children," commented Nancy Griswold, dedicated volunteer since 2009.
Generous, energetic and talented volunteers are role models of selflessness and hard work. As one student noted, "I wouldn't know how to sew or knit without them." A fifth grader said, "I volunteer now because I've met so many of them at OSS." The impact our volunteers have is immeasurable, and their contributions are woven through our students' awareness of what it means to live and learn.
The volunteer spirit is an integral and invaluable part of daily life at Our Sisters' School, and we have at least 119 excellent role models to thank for that.
Our mission, as an independent, tuition-free, nonsectarian middle school, is to educate and inspire economically disadvantaged girls from the New Bedford area. Our Sisters' School empowers girls to step into the future with valuable life skills and a mindset of achievement and excellence by providing a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment.
