An Eye for Goals
Goal setting is in the air - a time for reflection and renewal as the calendar turns another page. Moments from the fall term conferences still resonate in the minds of staff, families, and students. Our conferences are designed to encourage students to think critically about their academic work and personal growth.
Each OSS student shows a particular artifact or an academic accomplishment, and explains what she learned, and why it is important to her. She shares her "Glows & Grows," and analyzes her effort. Deliberately looking back through this lens becomes a powerful agent for change. "I intend to ask for more practice problems in math." "I want to make sure I mentor younger kids during study hall." "I want to challenge myself to be a leader during my internship at the Immigrants' Assistance Center."
These are just a sample of our students' goals as they build their academic, social, and emotional toolboxes that prepare them for success in secondary school and life beyond OSS.
What are your goals this year?
