Making Waves In Education
at Our Sisters' School

 February 2, 2017

Focus on Women Artists

When life imitates art, there is brilliance in the air! Each 7th grader selects an artist, researches her life, and then "backward engineers" a masterwork. Finally, to showcase gains in students' knowledge and creativity, they simulate a Living Wax Museum. Visitors push a button, and the student "comes to life," sharing her powerful, memorized speech. We learn important facts and details about the female artist as she stands beside her unique, artistic expression.

Assessment often comes in the form of a test or quiz, and that's ok. But when an assessment comes in the deeper form of a multidimensional, interactive community learning experience, well, it's just fantastic!

Our mission, as an independent, tuition-free, nonsectarian middle school, is to educate and inspire economically disadvantaged girls from the New Bedford area. Our Sisters' School empowers girls to step into the future with valuable life skills and a mindset of achievement and excellence by providing a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment.
